It is hard to believe that summer is just around the corner. School will be out soon, the pool opens next week and Owen wants to spend all his time outside. One true sign that summer is upon us, any male over the age of 60 feels the need to take off his shirt while doing yard work or playing tennis. Not sure if it is a Kohler thing or a Wisconsin thing but it is taking some getting use to!
One raining morning in May we decided to take Owen bowling. He had a great time the first game (match? round? not sure what the correct bowling terminology is...) He would cheer when the ball was slowing rolling down the lane and get really excited when the pins were knocked over. We quickly learned that he had the patience for only one game and soon left the bowling alley. I think that it is safe to say that we won't have a professional bowler in the family.
Our little pirate bowler
This is before we found the ramps that help little bowlers get the ball down the lane. Needless to say it took the ball about 2 minutes to make it down...
For "Momma's Day" (as Owen called it) we went to a zoo up in Greenbay and a fun day was had by all. It has been our tradition for the last 3 years to go on a family adventure on Mother's Day. I can't think of a better way to spend it than with my little man and watching him have a wonderful day. Owen loved feeding the goats, sheep, llama's and giraffe. The other big hit was the playground at the zoo. It is fun to see how much he has grown over the last year and how much more adventurous he is climbing the play structures and going down slides by himself.
Love that smile!
Owen was watching the goose and goslings swim by.
There are times that I think that we have moved to Small Town, USA. The huge hanging baskets are back on all the light posts, flags were flying for Memorial Day, the horse drawn carriage gives tourists a tour of the village on weekends and the high school band actually practices on the parade route the days prior to a parade. We really live in a beautiful, quaint community and it feels like we have stepped back in time to a period where people wave when they drive by, neighbors stop to visit when they see you, kids run free in the neighborhood to play, and new neighbors are welcomed to the block with home baked goods. Memorial Day is no exception, Kohler had a cute little parade that went by our house. Owen was a little concerned when the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts gave him handfuls of candy, he wasn't sure what he was suppose to do with it. After the parade we spent most of the day at the park and BBq'ed for dinner.
Mowing the lawn before the parade. We got Owen a lawnmower that blows bubbles a few weeks ago and he has already put many miles on it.

Owen loves to swing, every time we go to the park he spends at least 30 minutes swinging.
Playing with Dad in the "Big Sandbox"
Last night Owen and I watched the Senior Scroll Signing and May Pole Dance that happens every June in Ravine Park (which is across the street from our house). Every graduating class from Kohler High School has participated in the scroll signing. It was a neat ceremony and it was fun to watch the 4th and 5th grade classes perform the May Pole Dance.
Owen wanted to wear my sunglasses...love that they are upside down.

Here are a few random pictures from the last few weeks.
