Owen's first Christmas was very different than I had imagined. The plan was to spend Christmas Eve with my family going to church then dinner and open gifts at my Grams. We would spend Christmas morning at our house, then Christmas dinner at Brian's parents. Poor Brian came down with the stomach flu on Christmas Eve and was out for the count. Unfortunately most of my family has the same stomach bug so we cancelled dinner and rescheduled for the weekend. Owen and I met my mom, Gram, niece Madeline and brother -in-law Tony for the candle light service at church and then I came home and made spaghetti for dinner. I wasn't sure what to make for dinner since the last 29 years I had ham and scalloped potatoes on Christmas Eve. It was the first Christmas Eve that my family did not spend together. We usually take up 2 rows at church and this year be barely filled half. Brian was feeling better on Christmas day but then I came down with the bug and we missed Christmas with his family. Thankfully we were able to get it together enough to open gifts for Owen by the afternoon. We ended up celebrating with our families a few days later, in the end it all worked out nicely.
In the mean time Brian's car broke down a few more times and we came to the realization that it was time for a new car. Thankfully we were able to find a good deal on a volvo and we now both have reliable transportation. It was so nice not having a car payment but all good things come to an end.
Unfortunately New Years was a repeat of Christmas but with me getting sick fist. Thankfully we are now both on the mend after fighting a killer cold for the last few weeks. Hopefully this will continue and we can get back to normal life.
Owen is lots of fun lately. He loves being read to and had a few favorite toys. He laughs out loud often and loves to put his hands and feet into his mouth. He also recently discovered his tongue and has rolled over.
Here a few updated pictures. Hopefully we will post more often now that we are feeling human again.
